The third annual Men in Boats, a Christian men's event located on one of Minnesota's top fisheries, Lake Andrusia and the entire Cass Lake chain of lakes, near Bemidji, Minnesota, was a great success.  With a focus on enjoying God's outdoor creation, and growing in relation to him.  The event will take place June 2-4, 2017 at Camp Minne-Wa-Kan, on the shores of Lake Andrusia.

Invitation to Joy First Lutheran Church

On June 20, Invitation to Joy had 16 Lutheran Neighbors representing 4 different conference congregations volunteering at the Bemidji Loop the Lake Bike event. It gave us a fantastic opportunity to bring church outside of our church walls and engage our community as Lutherans. We volunteered at one of the rest stops for the bike riders where they could get nutrition, water and medical help if needed. We wore our bright yellow aprons that say “Lutheran” so that people would know who we are and that we are with them in the world to celebrate their lives. It was a great way for us Lutherans to continue to build relationships in the community. Check out our photos of the fun and be sure to ask the members of your congregation who volunteered how rewarding the experience was, and how you can help us on our next activity.  Members of First Lutheran who volunteered were:  Gloria Smart, Petra DeKrey, Vickie Gutknecht, Dianne Sizer and Dick Johnson.
