Pastor Corey Fuhrman
Pastor Corey Fuhrman joined the staff of First Lutheran Church in 2012. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Jamestown College and Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Bexley, OH. Pastor Corey was ordained in June of 1998. He and his late wife, Kelly, have three children: Carly, Jonah, and Jacob.
Pastor Linnea Papke-Larson
Pastor Linnea Papke-Larson joined the staff of First Lutheran Church in 2011. She graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1979. She completed her studies at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa in 1987 with a Master of Divinity degree, and was ordained that same year. She is married to Mark Papke-Larson and together they are becoming accustomed to an “empty nest” as marriage and careers are beckoning their three grown children to
Director of Worship and Music Ministries:
Ms. Carlson obtained her undergraduate degree in music from St. Olaf College and her Master of Music in Organ Performance from The University of Iowa. She remains active as a recitalist and enjoys collaborating with musicians in the area. Her three children all enjoy singing in the Junior Choir at FLC.
Director of Youth and Family Ministries
Tyler joined the staff of First Lutheran in 2018. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead with a major in Biology and minors in Environmental Studies and Religion. He enjoys sports, music, photography, and being out in nature. He also is the host of the Faith and Science Podcast in his spare time.
Director of Children's Ministry:
Heidi was raised in Bemidji and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1989. She has been a member of First Lutheran Church since 1972 and later was confirmed and married here. Heidi received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Aviation and a Minor in Art from Mankato State University in 1995. She is married to Troy Doyle with six grown children: Alexis, Alicia, Cody, Alex, Kia, & Megan, and three grandchildren. Heidi also serves as our Wedding Coordinator. She loves to teach our Sunday School and Preschool Wednesday Bible School classes. Adaptable – Empathetic – Developer – Positive Thinker - Achiever
Karen has come full circle. Her father (Rev. Ted Peterson) was First Lutheran's Youth Pastor when she was a child. Karen's undergraduate degrees are Sociology and Social Work from Concordia College. She is a Librarian, with a Master's in Library Science from the University of Iowa. Having lived in Oregon, Virginia and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi), she has met people from many different cultures. It is good to be back in Bemidji, at First Lutheran and with her parents. Karen enjoys meeting people, crocheting, reading, needlework and spending time with friends.
Johannah grew up down the road in Walker, MN, where she graduated High School. She has a BA in History and Art History from Hamline University. She lived for 5 years in Chicago where she worked in serveral museums doing children's programming. She's so happy to be back up north, where there are bike trails, cross country skiing and all those wonderful outdoors things to do!
Terry was born and grew up in Blackduck and graduated from Blackduck High School in 1999. He has lived in Bemidji for the past 10 years. Terry enjoys being outdoors; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Terry has also had a life long interest in the field of automobiles.
Danny was born and grew up in Wadena, MN, graduating from Waden-Deer Creek High School in 2017. He went to school in Winnipeg, Maitoba for one year before returning to Minnesota to study at Bemidji State University, where he currently studies Economics. Danny enjoys music, video games, snowboarding and sports, especially hockey!
Food Service Manager:
John is a Minnesotan and was born in Little Falls. John has been working with food for 32 years and is licensed, has USDA training, and is Serve Safe certified. He has been a professional cook for 20 years. He has been the Vice President and Food Service Manager for the Soup Kitchen for the past 12 years.
