Summer Activities at First Lutheran Church
Summer 2012 is full of opportunities for the entire congregation! Below you will find info on our upcoming summer adventures. Contact Chris Richards for more information about the programs outlined below!
Also, remember that if the costs associated with any of our youth and family programs are a financial burden for the participants, you can complete a fee reduction request and drop it off to the church. Our goal for our fund-raising with the Youth Stock program is that everyone will be able to participate regardless of financial issues.

Cost is $450 (aid available upon request)
Description:Come an hike with us in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado! Challenge yourself! Leave all of your distractions behind and get totally real cooking over the fire, climbing a mountain, hiking through alpine valleys, and finding yourself again as you find God in your neighbors and in creation. This is a life changing week. Don't miss it.
Logistics: We fly from Minneapolis to Denver, shuttle down to Colorado Springs, and then further down to camp, which is located in the Sangre De Cristo mounains near Canon City, CO. Our week will be spent backpacking, mountain climbing, exploring, and studying together. Our last day at camp will be spent white water rafting class four rapids on the Arkansas River through world class river rapids with river guides and our counselors. Finally we return to Denver, fly to MSP, and drive back to Bemidji. Costs include everything, transportation, food, equipment, outfitting etc. You'll need to have a sleeping bag and hiking shoes and a water bottle (plus a few other things, but nothing big.) You'll have to cover your food on the way down and back on our travel days as well.
To Sign up, simply complete the release form below and drop off the form and your $100 deposit before May 15. Final Payments are due by June 15.

Junior High Summer Events
These events are for youth having completed 7th-8th grades
as well as Parents and Adult Leaders
Junior High Mission Trip to Cedar Rapids, IA
Dates: June 18 - 23
7-8th Grade!
12 spots
BE LIKE JESUS. SERVE. LOVE. GROW.
Youth and adults are going to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where we will be partnered with St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids in a mission experience focused on serving, building, and faith growth. Students will serve the homeless, build and repair in the community, and work with children in need. Our hope is that in serving others and meeting new youth in Cedar Rapids, their eyes will be opened to the needs of the world and the importance of sharing Christ's Love.
- Cost is $150
- $75 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot ( nine spots )
- Final Payment due June 1 (Non-refundable)

Frisbee Golf each week with friends and discs provided!
Mondays at the new frisbee golf course, on 23rd street, Time after the school year TBA, during the School year 3:30-5:30. We will shift the time after the school year is out!
Summer Youth Group: Starts June 6
this year's 8-11th Graders and Graduates
Wednesday Nights, Twice a Month, behind the church, its youth group, summer style. Schedule TBA. Schedule will be emailed and texted to those involved, or who have requested the information. Schedule will also be posted here with somewhat regular updates: First S-FYSH on June 6th! Email Chris or call to request info and schedule!
Jr. High Bible Camps Campership!
We have not chosen a specific week to go to Bible Camp. But if your Junior High child is interested in participating at bible camp, we will support them with a $100 campership towards the bible camp that you choose.
Here's how:
1. Register for a camp session your family chooses!
2. BEFORE CAMP, Let us know at First Lutheran Church which camp your child has signed up for and we will send the subsidy directly to Pathways Bible Camp!
3. Go to camp and have an amazing time.
4. If our staff are available, we'll make every effort to visit our youth at camp!!!
5. We can post photos and stories online from camp as well!
We are corporate members at Pathways Bible Camp so the member fee is the fee you should expect to pay for any camping experiences. Otherwise, you will be paying the "non-member" rates at other Camps.

Elementary Bible Camps Campership!
Bible Camp is one of the primary ways we see youth begin their interest and pursuit of spiritual education and development. Don't miss the opportunity for your child to have a fun and faith building week at Camp! Although there isn't a specific week we are planning to attend, youth can sign up with the camp of their choice and the schedule that works for them! MUSIKAMP at FLC Bemidji

Calling all young musicians at First Lutheran Church!
Sign-up now for a great opportunity that will take place here at church the third week of June! A special music camp is being designed for you that will include many learning opportunities right here at church. Guest musicians, fun music games, group singing, rhythm activities, and special concerts will all take place here at FLC!
Call the office at 444-5302 and ask for Sarah for information on how to sign-up. The camp is designed for 1st through 6th graders.
